How to Build a Flight House

A “flight house” is a facility where butterflies (and moths) have the room to fly freely but they are unable to escape. They are more likely to breed if they can live as naturally as possible, with host plants and nectar sources at a natural height. Treetop species need to feel they are flying above or through the trees.

Here is an easy guide to building your own flight house, put together by Ellen Reid from St Arnaud in Victoria, Australia. We thank Ellen for allowing us to share it here. This will fit into a space 2 metres x 3 metres, but the specifications can be adjusted to fit the space you have.
