Monarch sightings (large numbers) 2005 to 2018

Below is a spreadsheet detailing sightings of large numbers of monarchs (20-50, 50-100, 100+) recorded on our website between 2005 and 2018. Note that not all of these necessarily would be winter overwintering sites – please note the date that the group/cluster was recorded and the comments of the person who recorded the data.

All of these sightings were recorded by individuals (whose names and contact information have been withheld for privacy reasons) using the link to our website, www.mb.org.nz. We encourage you – and others – to use this website to record sightings so that the information is stored in the database. The whole database (over 12,000 sightings as at 20 April 2018) is available for research purposes on written request to trust@monarch.org.nz.

Please note that you are welcome to use this data on condition that you acknowledge the MBNZT and provide a link to our website.

Click on the link below to download the data. You will need MS Excel or a similar spreadsheet program to open the file. Column A (ID) links to the actual sighting.
