Here in Christchurch, I am prone to cull out (pick off and throw away) many smaller caterpillars and keep the older & stronger animals. By this means, the maximum number that can be sustained – its all about sustainability – will get to mature to perpetuate the species. It is better to have 5 mature and complete their lives than have 56 fail for the want of food.
It is now May, and I have so many cats – new hatchings, large about to mature, and only a small handful of feed. Where is our controlling frost?
Even Yellow Admirals are pupating al over the house!! {BEP}.
