If you have joined up to our Monarch website but have not got as far as ordering tags, here’s a reminder of the process.

    1. Join the MBNZT site. You will enter your username and email, answer a security question and a password will be emailed to you.

    2. Click on the link in the email you receive and you will be taken through to your login page. Copy and paste the complicated password you’ve just been sent.

    3. Click on the ‘Profile’ tab. Add your real names (first and last) and update your password – make it something easier for you to remember. Make sure you add your address and telephone number too. Put a tick in the ‘Tagging’ and/or ‘Transects’ boxes at the bottom.

    4. Print out the four pages of notes about the project here.

We suggest you write your login and password on these notes and put them in a folder with your tags when they arrive.

    5. On the left-hand side click on the “Request Tags” tab. Tell us how many sheets you require and also practice tags*. Practice tags, paper butterflies and postcards – photograph here – are used to practice tagging and then used to promote awareness in your area.

    6. If you have queries about the tagging project please check out messages in the forum – or leave a question there.

Hope that explains everything. Enjoy the project! It’s great to have so many taggers all on board this year.

PS You can use the practice tagged butterflies by attaching them to postcards and dropping them into letterboxes around your community OR leave them on counters OR send them home with school newsletters. The more people that are aware of the project, the more likely that some of your butterflies will be reported in. There are still more available.

I am just about (29 March) to send out an email update to everyone involved in the project. Please, if you have questions, leave a message in the forum as others may also benefit from the question and the answer.

    Thanks.

    Jacqui
