I just found a female monarch butterfly on my deck. She is wobbling/stumbling around and can only fly short distances but her wings appear to be in good condition. Does anybody know what’s wrong with this butterfly and how I can help her?

Thank you for your reply. She seems to be fine at the moment. Unless I interact with her, she just stays still.

She’s either been poisoned, or is quite old. If you think she might be suffering, it’s probably best to euthanize her in the freezer.

    Good luck.

Unfortunately, she managed to break her wing during one of her flapping spurts. I managed to fix it with glue. I put her in dark room to try and calm her down.

She is currently on a piece of felt in a shoe box with a tissue soaked in apple juice. Occaisonaly she madly flaps her wings but is unable to take off and ends up tipping on her side or back.
