A couple of days ago I released a male monarch but had noticed that he hadn’t ‘put out’ his proboscis. Yesterday, I saw a couple of monarchs attacking a weaker one and sure enough it was a male who didn’t seem able to feed – probably my released one of the day before. Think I have done the same for a monarch butterfly before. Loved the bit about the “Breech birth!”

    Very impressed with your surgery
Reminds me when I was working for a Doctor who was very very much against home births
I went to work one morning and said that I had done an assist breech birth at home that morning
As he was about to hit the roof I had to add that it was a monarch butterfly!!!
