got a monarch with curly wings

    Got a butterfly with curly wings. Can I clamp them straight ?

    No, that won’t work. THey need to dry straight in the first 20 minutes or so. If the butterfly can’t fly, then it won’t be able to fly and consequently breed… which is what they’re here to do.

    If only the tips of the forewings (leading edges) are curled, you can trim them off so that both forewings are equal, and it might be able to fly.

    Read this on another forum, which pretty much sums it all up:

    “Insects were designed for replaceability and mass production, not healing. The biological cost of healing an exoskeleton would exceed that of making another butterfly, if that makes sense.”

    “I’m afraid all you can really do is try to keep your butterfly quiet and calm and just feed as normal.”
