the  wintering-over butterfly site in Somerfield for anyone interested is opposite the main Pioneer stadium building car park. To the right there is a row of tall eucalyptus trees + the butterflies are in the trees by a path at the end. I would estimate approx. 200 butterflies. As this area is close to my home we’ll keep an eye on them.  We also went to look at the ones in Riccarton in the Milnebank Reserve off Balgay St. On the East side off the Reserve there are 4 eucalyptus trees + the butterflies are mainly on the biggest tree. They are easy to spot as quite a few of them are flying around! + their wings are open to catch the sun. Hope some of you get a chance to see these over-wintering sites. Murray

Hi to all Christchurch monarch forum members,Could you please be a bit more specific where the trees are as we walked all around Centennial park with no luck? We’ll try + find the Riccarton trees tomorrow. Murray
