Where can you get white Montanoa grandiflora (Mexican tree daisy) and the golden Tithonia diversifolia (Mexican sunflower)? Rich in nectar for butterflies, bees and bumble bees when there’s not much else on offer, every garden should have them! Plant them at the back of a border or against a wall as they get very tall.

Cuttings with instructions on how to grow them will be available in August. Order now by email to treasurer@monarch.org.nz with details plus your name and address and how you’ve paid. Follow the payment instructions on our website shop.

$10 for one, $15 for two, $20 for three PLUS $8 P&P per order. Remember to tell us which ones you want! Orders will be filled in strict order of payment received.

I’m told that yellow daphne grows well where it’s cooler, Fiona… might be worthwhile giving that a go?

    Hi Fiona

I am not sure. Do you see poinsettias growing outdoors down there? If so, then Montanoa and Tithonia might do okay in a sheltered, sunny position. At this price, you’re not risking much to give it a go…

Are these plants able to survive in the frosty and cold weather we have in the Welington area. Thank you Fiona
