If you would like to see wasp numbers reduced under control across wide areas of New Zealand please do take a few minutes to visit the WWF’s Conservation Innovation Awards site and comment on Vespex.

You’ll need to register first, but there are some other good projects there you can look at as well, and you can vote for any ideas you like. Vespex is there – but a long way down the other initiatives.

    Hi Dave

I am pretty sure that it has been discussed on here before. Do a search by clicking on the word “wasps” to the right of here.

Has anyone heard of a homemade wasp bait (not just a trap) using catfood and Frontline flea and tick drops? One of our AirBnB guests said they heard that it works. The wasps take it back to the nest and the entire nest dies. Anyone know if this works? We’re set to give it a try when we see wasps here.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Voting is closed now, would be great if they are able to get this on the market
    What about the bees though?
