Tagged butterfly returns… after five months

    A female monarch butterfly tag number NAJ640 which was released on 2016-04-12 by one of our taggers was seen today mating a few blocks away from where it was released in Opotiki!

    Of the hundreds I have tagged this is only the the third one found, the other two where close to home, this is the longest distance, if still in same town, and also the one that lasted longest.
    Have lots of Monarchs around and laying eggs

    Wow! Wonderful. I returned today from Melbourne and found the extra mags you had sent Jacqui. Thank you so much. No eggs on my swan plants yet which is 3 weeks later than normal in my garden, Seatoun, Wellington. Caryl
