    Today
    in Hawkes Bay
I caught at least one paper wasp carving up a caterpillar and dragging glistening segments of it away.

Shows that Paper wasps are individuals too- they haven’t all gone off a protein diet.

I too am having paper wasp issues. The only caterpillars making it to butterflies are the ones I have in my butterfly castle. It means that I have leaves on my plants to cut and put into the castle to feed all my caterpillars though. So far have about 30 chrysalis and at least a dozen or so caterpillars still feeding on the leaves I put in. Without the castle I doubt I would have had any monarchs this year.
