Well my new butterfly towers have just arrived – one small one and one large. Now I’m wondering what is the best way to use them. Are they OK outside (as long as they are pinned down in some way so they don’t blow away) or best inside? Are they good for housing cats or should I just use them for chrysalises that are about to eclose? What do other people do? Thanks. Elaine

Presume you’re talking about “caterpillar castles”.

I use mine indoors and outdoors. Outside, by the time I have put in a tray and a vase holding cuttings – or a potted plant – they need no more weighing down.

Caterpillars will then pupate on the roof of the castle, and you can unzip the castle to let the butterflies go.

    Hope that helps.
