    That is the Brown Argus! However female blues, common, chalk Hill and Adonis, are various shades of brown mixed with blue evolved to avoid being eaten by predators. This gives them a better chance of laying eggs successfully.

    On the hillside (Denbies) what is the brown/beige one with the pale orange spots around the edge of its hindwings?

    Yes, the Adonis Blue is a beauty!
