Philip Mladenov, Trustee

Philip is an environmental scientist and author with a background in management and governance. He has held several senior positions including Professor and Head of the Department of Marine Science at the University of Otago and Chief Executive of the Fertiliser Association of New Zealand.

Philip has been a Board member of several companies and non-profits focused on science, technology, IT and education, and has worked with government agencies, politicians and businesses to build awareness and strategic responses to climate change, environmental degradation, and resource over-exploitation.

Philip’s interest in the ecology of butterflies and moths dates back to his undergraduate days at the University of Toronto when he took a course in invertebrate zoology led by Dr Fred Urquhart, the renowned Canadian butterfly expert.
