Stacey releasing tagged butterflies

It’s always fun to set butterflies free so after these had been tagged, a visitor from Australia got to release them.

Just lovely! Thank you for sharing this Jacqui.
Is that a special container for butterflies?
Would be good for my year7&8 pupils at school who are taking on more responsibility for tagging and release. They had a couple escape!

The past 2 weeks there have been 9 monarch butterflies feeding on the nectar of the large ivy plants in my Wellington city neighborhood.
Meanwhile the caterpillars make slow progress in the cool weather.

Thanks G R Wallis! Can you please report this in to http://www.mb.org.nz so it goes straight into our database as well?

    Thanks!
