1) Join the forum and mailing list.
The forum is available for anybody to read, but only forum members may post on it. There is no charge for joining this, but to save yourself embarrassment please read the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) and Forum Rules before making your first posting. The rules are designed to keep our forum a friendly and safe place. The consequences of breaking the rules range from looking silly to having your post locked or deleted, and in an extreme case to having your account removed. Joining the forum should also add you to our email list. This list is managed for us by a specialist emailer called mailchimp and uses a ‘double-opt in system’ to protect it from spammers. We use targeted emails so that our members in the South Island don’t get emails about local groups in Auckland and vice versa. However for this to work you will need to tell mailchimp your address. You should receive instructions from mailchimp shortly after registering.

2) Help with our research and become a citizen scientist.
You may also wish to join our tagging and other research projects. There is also no charge for this as we need as many volunteers as we can get! Use the same form as above, and remember to tick the taggers box in your website profile to get access to that protected part of our website. You will also need to enter your mailing address into the database so that we can print address labels to post tags to you. Remember: No postal address = no tags! Also let mailchimp know that you wish to receive emails about tagging by ticking the appropriate box on your mailchimp profile. Only people in New Zealand can tag butterflies for us but anyone in the world can join the taggers mailing list if they are interested in our tagging research. 3) Join the Monarch Butterfly NZ Trust as a financial member.
As a voluntary organisation we depend on our financial members to support the ongoing work of the trust. The subscription is only $20 per year if you are happy to download your newsletters as a pdf file, or $25 per year if you would like to receive your newsletters in the mail. If none of that makes any sense, please email us and one of our volunteers will guide you through it.
If you move house, change your email address, want to start or stop tagging, or just want to unsubscribe please remember to update your details in your mailchimp profile and in your website profile.
