In Auckland this coming weekend (25 and 26 February) at the Auckland Museum is Explorama – and we would love some more volunteers. Can you help on the stand for two hours, please? Meet new people, talk to them about butterflies. If you don't feel you're particularly knowledgeable it is okay to say you "don't know" but we can find out answers to questions and send the people that info.

As many of our volunteers are in Christchurch we would very much appreciate some more help. Please phone Carol on 021 33 23 43 or email carol.mail@xtra.co.nz.

Explorama focuses on our natural history collections and gives you the chance to take on the role of scientist as Auckland Museum curators and experts from diverse scientific fields take you on an exploration of life – above and below the surface – in the Domain. In the Museum, as well as static displays special tours will take you behind-the-scenes into restricted areas including collection storage spaces and curatorial labs to see how objects are prepared for research and display.

Discover why natural history collections are kept and used. You’ll also get the chance to learn how items are cured or preserved with poisonous chemicals and to take a turn on our high-power microscopes to see the Domain discoveries up-close.

So why not bring the family, and let them loose in the museum (Atrium) while you give some time to sharing your passion?
