I grow swan plants in a green house.
I have host plants outside. None of these plants have been sprayed.
A friend brought me hungry caterpillars which are housed in the green house. The caterpillars reach the stage where they hang to turn to chrysalis, but they then droop down - elongated, with runny green water seeping from them and die. (I do the kind thing and put them in the freezer)
Not all the caterpillars are doing this - some have gone on to turn into chrysalis successfully.
