Darned dial-up I couldnt get on line last night coz of electric fence issues : XXXX.

I looked at my piks and your one looks a little more tranparent than mine, especially out toward the wing tips. I THINK I know what you mean by the glad wrap effect. Especially in the sunlight. I also had a superb little guy (buddy) and he was crooked and bent with 3 legs and a little transparency as well and he was the gamest little butterfly Ive ever seen.

Thanks Swansong. Her wings were a little crinkly where there was no pigment. They sort of had a cling film look to them. Reminded me of a piece of glad wrap.

Unfortunately though I haven't seen her again since she was released which is a bit disappointing.

WOW Zoe thats a great pik! Yes mine was similar to yours, but if I remember correctly I think one wing was slightly crumpled where it was transparent. I also noticed with mine it exuded some green fluid from one of the veins in its wings.

Oh thanks Swansong. Meanwhile she flew off this morning, although she didn't get very far (last spotted in the fig tree!)

It'll be interesting to see if she hangs about and returns to lay eggs as she's so easily identifiable.

Dont know what the cause is Zoe, but Ive had this too. Not sure if I had a pik posted up or not, but I remember posting about it. I'll be interested to have a look at your pik.

She hatched today and the tips and base of her wings are almost pigment free. I took a photo (closed wing only unfortunately) and have emailed it to Jacqui so interested people can see.

Does anyone know what can cause this?
