Today it is wet and windy in Russell, so I thought I’d collect a few eggs from milkweed around town - who knows, it may be the last for the “summer”.
On one plant I found these living things, so have used digital magnifier to take photos of them. Any ideas what they are?
Colourful nectar plants…
This huge caterpillar kindly accepted donations.
Gumboots and gardening gloves were our brochure holders.
Here you see the whole display, nearly finished.
We’ve replaced the screen with the embroidery, much admired, provided by Maureen Trotter.
Beverley and her friend Dorothy didn’t realise they’d be working so hard! We shifted and reorganised and shuffled those plants until we were absolutely happy with where they were. The rainbow of nectar plants was in place. We kept repeating our rhyme for the rainbow (Richard Of York Gives Battle In Vain) (red - orange - yellow - green - blue - indigo - violet).
