Vicky Steele, trustee

Vicky

Vicky Steele lives with her partner Hugh in Christchurch and is self-employed in the e-marketing/graphic design/website business.

“I’m nature mad,” said Vicky. “I’m fascinated by insects, butterflies in particular, and also birds. I have a very old cat, and an ex racehorse, both of which I adore.” Her Avonhead garden is paradise for wildlife.

Vicky heard about the Monarch Trust at the Christchurch Festival of Flowers. This year, with the help of Hugh and other MBNZT members, she designed and ran the butterfly exhibit at Science Alive’s Botanica!

Vicky has been responsible also for designing such things as the new website for the MBNZT (launched February 2009), T-shirts and stationery. She loves life in the Garden City.

“Christchurch in the summer is a fabulous place for a butterfly – the cooler winters kill off a lot of predators – and most garden centres sell out of swan plants within hours of their arrival.”
