ASB Community Trust

ASB Community Trust

The ASB Community Trust was formed in 1988 from the sale of shares in the ASB Bank. The Trust distributes grants to the not-for-profit sector throughout Auckland and Northland in the education, arts, sport, recreation, environment, heritage, health and social services areas.

Community Post is the charitable arm of NZ Post. It supports non-profit organisations by donating postage-included envelopes to a wide range of community groups throughout NZ. These range  from woman’s refuges, hospices and centres for people with disabilities to sports, cultural and environmental groups. In 2008 more than 1.5 million Community Post envelopes were sent out  to successful groups around the country.

Environment Bay of Plenty is the regional council for the Bay of Plenty. The council has generously assisted with our 2009 conference as Tauranga falls withing its jurisdiction.

Eureka Trust is a charitable trust that operates gaming machines in hotels and taverns for the purpose of raising funds for the local community. Eureka Trust was established in April 2003. All its net profits are returned to communities.

Garden & Artfest Trust has assisted with signage about butterfly gardening for the Conference to be held at Te Puna Quarry Park.

Graeme Hill, through his program on Radio Live, worked with us on a plan to get more people planting nettles for the Admiral butterflies.

The Lion Foundation is one of NZ’s oldest Charitable Trusts. In the past 23 years, it has returned over $480 million back to the community, supporting thousands of good causes right around NZ.  Its philosophy is ‘make a difference’ From 157 venues and 2,288 machines across the country it consistently returns over 40% of revenue back into the community. That equates to around $40 to $50 million every year.

The Mazda Foundation Trust was established in 2005 as a public charitable trust to provide assistance to a broad cross – section of worthy charitable entities and causes throughout NZ. It provides assistance towards the maintenance and improvement of the natural environment ,the advancement of culture and education to achieve excellence in communities, education and employment skills’ development for yopung people, with particular emphasis on children from deprived backgrounds and the arts.

The NZ Lottery Grants Board was set up by Parliament to distribute the proceeds of state lotteries in our  communities. It does this through Lottery Grants and direct payments to three statutory bodies as well as community grants schemes, trust and fellowship grants and funding for community groups. can’t find a date for this!! Weird.

Oratia Native Plant Nursery Ltd is a family business, owned and operated by Geoff and Bev Davidson – with some added skill input at times from the second generation. Join them in restoring NZ’s natural heritage.

The Perry Foundation was created by the Perry family in 1976 to support community intiiatives in the Waikato region and has provided funds our 2009 conference in Tauranga. Funds are available to be distributed from the Foundation’s gaming machine operation.

Pet Mania, North Shore the pet shop with everything, right in the Browns Bay shopping centre.

Pub Charity was established in 1987 by the then-named Hotel Association of NZ (HANZ), now the Hospitality Organisation of NZ.  Pub Charity was the first organisation in NZ licensed to operate gaming machines and is one of the largest national trusts operating gaming machines, with venues spread across the country. raising funds for community  organisations

The Wellington-based Ron Greenwood Environmental Trust has contributed to many projects since its inception – and helped us with our 2009 Conference.

Richmond Estate Wines is an organic wine making pioneer producing this country’s first Certified Organic Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc – varieties for which NZ is world renowned. They have been growing and making organic wine since their inception in 1991. They are Certified Organic by BioGro NZ, and their philosophy is in making great wines by working with nature. By using organic methods, without the use of synthetic chemicals, they believe they can truly express the vineyard’s character or ‘terroir’ in the wines.

Royal Forest & Bird Society is the long name for ‘Forest & Bird’, New Zealand’s largest independent conservation organisation that works to preserve our natural heritage and native species. Originally formed to protect our native forests and birds, our role has since grown to include protection of all native species and wild places – on land and in our oceans, lakes and rivers. It provides a pro-conservation voice for all threatened species and fragile places.

Russell Bookshop is one of the best – if not the best – bookshop in the world. Averil and her staff have always looked after the Monarch Butterfly NZ Trust, supported our ideals, given us bargains and what’s more the very ultimate in service.

Tui Garden Products is a well known brand to gardeners in New Zealand. It supports gardening evening events, competitions and initiatives.

Supporting communities in the Bay of Plenty, the Western Bay of Plenty Council has assisted with our 2009 conference. It manages the district north-west of Tauranga.

Wildflower World sells beautiful wildflower and garden flower seeds through their mail order catalogue, and have generously donated a wildflower garden at Te Puna Quarry Park for our 2009 conference. They produce a beautiful forty-page colour catalogue twice a year. Their seeds are sent around the world.

Yates has established itself as an integral part of Australian and NZ  gardening history, but much of the company’s success rests on its ability to adapt to changes in lifestyle and to continue meeting the needs of gardeners in each new generation. When you buy a packet of ‘Swan Plant’ seeds sold by Yates, a portion of the proceeds goes to MBNZT funds.
