WHO ARE WE?
We are four women
who are passionate about the Monarch.
HOW TO NAVIGATE
We put together this website, so you can use the SEARCH function to find out answers to your questions. Search on overwinter and you’ll learn what the Monarch does in the winter. Search on Asclepias and you’ll learn about the food source for the caterpillar - which we soon discovered is no longer called Asclepias sp. but belongs in the Gomphocarpus family.
Click on the links to the right of here ->. There are pages of information, links to other data, and posts where you can join in. Please add your comments to the posts. We’d love to hear from you! It may be a question or tell us about your own personal experience… with feed, releases, eggs, caterpillars, chrysalis or butterflies - and the plants that you know they feed or overwinter on. This is not just a Northland thing - the Monarch is found in most parts of New Zealand.
You will find a PowerPoint presentation and photographs. You will find there is a page where you can automatically record your sightings and this information goes into a database which will be accessible to anyone doing research on the Monarch.
MEET OTHERS JUST LIKE YOU!
Since we started this, we have met and talked to so many fascinating people - people, just like us, who love these ethereal spirits - and we would love to have this forum grow.
So help us learn together… please.
