Nigel Venters (UK) took these photographs of White Monarchs emerging from their chrysalis at his homein England.
He says: “The White Monarchs were bred to confirm to me the recessive gene theory. If correct, a White Monarch wild caught female will produce offspring which are 100% orange (Normal) and it is only when these siblings are bred together you get 25% White Monarchs.”
“Of course, once you breed from white adults the resulting offspring are 100% white. This proved true, and that the gene that causes nivosus is a recessive.”
