Tuesday, April 29th, 2008I have many Monarch caterpillars at all stages. ie babies, large, about to curl up, and chrysalisses ranging from light green to almost black and ready to hatch.

I have many Monarch caterpillars at all stages. ie babies, large, about to curl up, and chrysalisses ranging from light green to almost black and ready to hatch.
The splendid sighting of monarchs seem to have disappeared.
100 butterflies overwintering
I have found them again,They.ved shifted to the other side of the gum tree–more sheltered from the N.Wind 5 clusters of them in the one big gum tree estimate 300 of them.

think a cat had got it. it was dead and quite tattered
up to 10 on plant whose name I do not know native I think, and it is flowering heavily and late

I found the butterflies again . They had moved to the otherside of the gum tree which was more sheltered. One cluster, of five that I could see, was near enough to photograph.

My butterflys have gone. They were still ther at 8.am when I went away for the day but gone now after spending at least 3 nights here. Perhaps they wanted a firmer branch to rest on as the gum was swaying in the wind that has come up this afternoon. Perhaps this […]
