Many butterflies feeding on Choiysa Tenata, echiums, aloes,
dead butterfly found in garden, recently flown in.
Have seen two butterflies this spring. One emerged from a chrysalis on our swan plant. Plant currently has at least two large caterpillers on it, plus several asian paper wasps flying around.
Aphid infestation. Found this site to work out what to do as I have small caterpillars on it. Used dishwater spray and moved a couple of the smaller caterpillars to 2 of my new un-infestated plants I planted a while back.

Mike Lusk from the Hawkes Bay area took this photograph recently while in Northland. He saw them in two locations, and now Gilly Jackson has seen one in Russell.
Butterfly hanging about a large flowering plant, with bright, purple cone - flowers. The same plant was also busy with bumbles, bees, white butterflies. The Monarch flew from one part of the plant to the other before settling on a flower, then leaving.
