unknown - received in mail
Many butterflies resting on two adjacent eucalyptus trees on the Karamu St side of this small park
hatching about 6 a day for a week
Nearly dead Wings damaged, one especially broken Found on the ground outside a bedroom window.
Saw a swan plant today that had about 15 monarch caterpillars on it plus about 10 chrysalis, Unfortunately the caterpillars have almost stripped the plant of its leaves so the ones left may go a bit hungry.
Large numbers regularly overwinter in an area of established trees in this park which also offers various nectar-bearing shrubs, some of which bloom in winter. Numbers around 50-75 now but may increase to 200+
mild no wind
Mainly orange with black pattern, definitely a Monarch! Also sighted a couple of weeks previously in same area.
