Monarch Butterfly NZ Trust

Over the last few weeks we have had a butterfly laying eggs on our swan plant. Have had five caterpillars. One has survived and today it is starting to spin it crysalis.

1 male, 1 female hatched late on 26 Feb, flew away 27/02/06. Headed northwest.

For about an hour a group of 5-6 Monarch butterflys were fluttering around and often landing on the Lacebark flowers. A rare sight to see so many Monarchs together, I even took a couple of photos.

Had heaps hatch over the last few days. Planted more swan plants and sown seeds. With any luck we will have over 200 plants (if the seeds grow). We have caterpillars of all stages all over the place.
