It was 31 Jan when I first sighted a Monarch, it could have been blown in by the norwester,as I hadnt seen any previously and our winters are quite cold. However we do have a couple of very mature and tall Redwood trees next door in the school playground and also our section of 3.4 acre has some conifers. It is still around now - 20th Feb - well I am presuming it is the same one. It comes out most days now, especially on hot sunny days which we have had plenty of lately I have 2 swan plants a year old and several new plants. However the Monarch does not appear to land, just flies around visiting the Swan Plants and the Buddleia. It sometimes gets chased by the Red and Yellow Admiral butterflies.
