The Monarchs are laying … have been for a couple of months, but the numbers of caterpillars are being demolished by paper wasps. However, it’s very early in the season here and the paper wasps will be overwhelmed in a months time. Every year we hatch upwards of a thousand butterflies.
I have had numerous amounts of butterflys come to lay more eggs on my already bear swan plants.
I have lost 5 plants this year for no apparent reason. They have just started to shrivel and eventualy completly die off so have been very short on food. I counted 87 catterpillars on one medium plant […]
When we lived in Wainuiomata I raised over 200 butterflies each year. I had a number of Swan plants. Moved to Pakuranga 18 months ago and planted more.
