Tauranga / Omokoroa Beach / 2005-04-01 11:00:00

Hundreds of monarch butterflies wintering over in trees, from about April, numbers have decreased, but there are still lots. On sunny days they flutter around, and can be seen on camellia, bottle brush, hebe. I saw 12 last week on, and fluttering around, a hebe bush.
Locals are concerned that the councl seems to consider swan plants as noxious weeds and sprays them…………they dont seem to spray arum lily!
